Summer Possiblities

We have officially finished the 2009-2010 school year in New York this past week. For me summer brings many possibilities including time to sharpen the saw and rejuvenate, as well as time to reflect on the past and set new goals for the next school year.

That is the beauty of teaching, every year we have the ability to set goals and plan our own professional growth for the summer so that we can ‘attack’ the new year with renewed energy and refined knowledge.  The art of reflecting and setting goals for personal growth is key to being a good teacher. When we stop growing, we become stagnant- and stagnation is the killer of innovation.  When we as educators push ourselves to be learners, we are more equipped to provide an environment for learning.
