During our Understanding by Design unit planning workshop we will be looking at possible tools for teachers to use as they design their performance task. Of course the first priority is to establish the content/skills, then determine the enduring understandings and essential questions of their unit. Once we know what students need to learn, then we can design an assessment that shows evidence of that understanding. The tool that you choose will certainly depend on the purpose and performance task that you have designed for your unit.
This, of course, is a small selection of the tools that are out there. There are many others, so if you are designing a performance task and have a specific idea in mind let me know. Together we can brainstorm a tool that will work for your students and your school.
